Reporting to the Manager, Health Promotion, the Community Health Nurse - Clinic (CHC_C) is responsible for providing a full range of community-based nursing and public health services to the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and catchment area. The Community Health Nurse - collaborates closely with community resources to deliver culturally safe healthcare services to individuals and families across the lifespan, in alignment with the strategic values, vision, goals, and objectives of Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Natsékhi Kų̀ (Health Centre)
The Community Health Nurse - Clinic works to ensure clients receive culturally safe care at Natsʼekhì Kų̀ Health Centre and other healthcare facilities. This role is integral to the multidisciplinary team working with KDFN Health Centre staff, other KDFN departments, and various local, territorial, and federal organizations.
Qualifications (what we look/screen on your resume):
- Nursing Diploma or Degree and current registration in good standing with Yukon Registered Nurses Association;
- Yukon Certificate of Immunization Competency, or be willing to obtain within 2 months of hire;
- Considerable community health nursing experience; and
- Experience providing client care, preferably in a First Nation Community.
- Recent applied knowledge of nursing theory and best practices, preferably related to community health.
- Administrative and time management skills.
- Case management and work planning skills.
- Knowledgeable and competent in the collection and shipment of lab specimens
- Conflict resolution and crisis management skills.
- Ability to take initiative, and work independently in a community health setting.
- Compassion and respect for the cultures, and traditions of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation, as well as those of individual citizens, and families.
- Ability to foster trust, acceptance, and interest among staff and community members.

Required knowledge and skills (what we asses on/may interview on):
Conditions of Employment: Possess a valid Driver’s License (class 4 desirable) with a clean Driver’s Abstract; current CPR-BLS; Tuberculosis (TB) clearance; acceptable criminal record check with vulnerable sector clearance prior to commencement of work; Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate (or obtain within two months of the date of hire).*KDFN has generous employer-paid benefits and a matching pension package that commences after 3 months of continued employment plus paid leave accruals
