Northwestel is looking for a Combination Technician in Fort Smith, NT! In this role, you will perform corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance and complete circuit orders for all equipment contained at all Central Office locations including transmission, switching, business systems, radio and DC power equipment.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Performs corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance and completes circuit orders for all equipment contained at all Central Office locations including transmission, switching, business systems, radio and DC power equipment.
  • Performs regular maintenance, repair, performance testing, alignment, alternations and adjustment on all head end and plant equipment associated with the signal distribution network and facilities in the delivery of Video, Voice and Data products and services.
  • Perform installation and repair function where required.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Company, industry and legal safety requirements.
  • Contribute individually or as part of a team to continuous improvement in the delivery of your product or service to internal and/or external customers.
  • Maintain or produce accurate records, files, reports and applicable databases as required.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the core fiber transport network.
  • Active participation in your personal education and development.
  • Protect the Company's assets.
  • Perform relief duties as required

Knowledge & Skills Required

  • Journeyman Technician or graduate of a 2 year communication electronic program at a recognized technical institute. Knowledge in CATV Head end Equipment, radio/satellite, installation & repair is an asset.
  • Ability to read general system layouts/plans from drawings and system maps.
  • Ability to climb poles using gaffs, hooks and climbing belt as needed in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Ability to work effectively without direct supervision.
  • Possess good written/verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Possess valid drivers license (minimum class 5)
  • Must be physically capable of performing duties.
  • Must be willing to work inside or outside in all weather conditions.
