Job Summary:

The incumbent provides general labour, customer service duties and special event set - up for Robert Service Campground, Shipyards Park and other Parks and City Public Spaces.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide customer service to campground users, tourists, general public and various user groups hosting events or utilizing City public spaces. Answer inquiries and distribute information.
  2. Provide set up/take down and general labour tasks for special events and meetings.
  3. Perform custodial duties including restroom and shower facilities, office/public space, general clean-up and garbage/litter removal.
  4. Process and reconcile payments including: maintain floats, post and reconcile daily transactions, export daily financial revenues for the department and check transactions for accuracy.
  5. Complete facility bookings and sell products using City booking software and Point of Sale.
  6. Enforces established standards of conduct and decorum.
  7. General parks maintenance and labour duties.
  8. Implement established preventative maintenance routine, reports deficiencies and records daily operations.
  1. Follow, so far as is reasonably practicable, established safety procedures and standards.
  2. Act as Parks and Public Spaces Program Coordinator as required.

Position Requirements

Working Conditions

Hours of work: 10 hours, including evenings, night shifts and weekend work. Exposure to dust/dirt, fumes/odours, bodily fluids/waste, temperature extreme and inclement weather.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Grade 10.
  • Class 5 driver’s license.
  • 1 year related experience and 3 months on the job training.
  • Knowledge and experience handling money (cash, credit cards, interact, etc.).
  • Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR Level C.
  • Attention to detail, customer service and priority setting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with the public and providing assistance in a variety of situations.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Examples of Equipment to Operate:

Janitorial equipment and chemicals, grounds and maintenance equipment, floor vacuum, various hand and power tools, vehicle, communication equipment and computer applications such as Office Suite, and Facility booking software.
