Full-time, permanent position, working 75 hours bi-weekly

$105,896.17 - $141,195.74

Eligibility

  • Excellent management skills, including ability to supervise, train and lead teams with diverse roles and responsibilities, as well as manage a budgets and human resources.
  • Strong knowledge of assessment methodology, Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Act (YESAA), Yukon First Nations and First Nation agreements.
  • Experience managing multiple projects through a regulatory or assessment process and in dealing with complex issues.
  • Experience working for or in collaboration with a First Nation government is considered an asset.

Location:

The Assessment Manager works for YESAB’s Head Office, located in Whitehorse, Yukon, and is expected to travel to all YESAB offices.

Relocation incentives may be available.

Reporting to the Assessment Director, the Assessment Manager is responsible for overseeing the intake, review, and assignment of all project submissions received by the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board (YESAB). The Assessment Manager oversees the Assessment Unit to ensure that assessments are conducted in accordance with policies, procedures, legislative requirements.

The Assessment Manager is a new role at YESAB, and the incumbent will play a key role in advising the Assessment Director on all matters pertaining to the Assessment Unit’s development and future processes related items. Further, this position is responsible for:

  • Communicating with the Assessment Director and Assessment Branch Managers to ensure Assessment District specific knowledge is both documented and accurately utilized within the assessment process.
  • Assigning projects to Assessment Unit staff to ensure effective project handling.
  • Ensuring that documents issued by the Assessment Unit comply with YESAA, YESAA regulations, YESAB Rules for Evaluations Conducted by Designated Offices and YESAB guidance, and that reasons for decisions are informed, defensible and clearly articulated.
  • Conducting research and maintains awareness of relevant technical and scientific information and Traditional Knowledge related to Projects and emerging trends in environmental and socio-economic impact assessment practice.
