Overview
Queer Yukon Society is looking to hire a Community Engagement Manager for an ongoing position to develop and organize programs and community events for the LGBTQIA2S+ community in Whitehorse.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning, developing, and facilitating in-person, online and/or physical-distanced community engagement activities in Whitehorse and, occasionally, other Yukon communities.
- Supervising staff, volunteers and contractors on short- and long-term projects
- Working with other staff to promote activities through social media, the organization’s website, and other means.
- Collecting feedback about the activities as well as the needs of LGBTQIA2S+ community members to develop future programming
- Working with the Executive Director and other staff to plan and implement program grants, including developing appropriate budgets and supporting reporting as needed
- Working alongside staff to ensure the safety of all community members during project activities.
- Working within a set budget and regularly reporting expenses.
- Following all policies, procedures, and guidelines as set by Queer Yukon from time to time.
- Participating in relevant staff and team meetings.
- Participating in strategic planning and feedback processes as needed.
- Other duties as mutually agreed upon, according to capacity.
Some evenings and weekend work will be required, with advance notice provided.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A strong knowledge of or first-hand experience with the LGBTQIA2S+ community
- Anti-racist and/or any other anti-oppression training or experience
- A strong knowledge or experience with Yukon’s First Nations communities
- Experience planning and coordinating online and in-person events
- Experience working on a committee, and/or working in the non-profit sector
- Experience working within budgets
- Basic familiarity with Gmail, Google Drive, Zoom, Facebook and Instagram would be considered an asset
- Bilingualism in ASL, a Yukon First Nations language, or French would be considered an asset
- Valid driver’s license would be considered an asset
