PLANT OPERATOR – Mayo, Yukon
THE OPPORTUNITY: Permanent, Full time Position
Yukon Energy is the main generator and transmitter of electrical energy in the territory. Our plant facilities
are on the Traditional Territory of Yukon First Nations. There are 14 First Nation in the territory and we
work within these Traditional Territories in all of our business operations.
What will you do?
Reporting to the Leadhand, Mechanical Maintenance, the successful applicant will work as part of the
Operations group and will assist with the safe and efficient operation of the electrical generating units and
plants. The work will involve regular plant checks and unit readings on plant generating and peripheral
equipment and providing assistance and support to other staff as required.
What do you need to succeed?
A high school diploma and some vocational training and/or experience in the operation and light
maintenance of power generation equipment. The ability to work unsupervised with a strong commitment
to working safely, a valid class 5 driver’s license and good computer and interpersonal skills.

Competitive Compensation
What are the working conditions?
Works in proximity to high voltage and spinning equipment. Exposure to open water and plant
environment. Travel and periods of immediate stand-by coverage are requirements of this position.
Involves a rotation shift schedule that may require working on weekends and statutory holidays. May be
exposed to inclement weather while working outside and when travelling.
